This year, we are treating Board member recruitment proactively, and more aggressively than ever before.
In years past, candidates have been asked to present themselves in a brief speech at the annual meeting. This is not fair to the candidate or to the members. This is an important position, which deserves longer and more thoughtful consideration.
Therefore, each unit has been mailed a newsletter with an enclosed candidate form. We encourage members of the community who are interested in service as a Board member to complete the form and mail it to the management company. Forms will be scanned and posted to the SVCA web site in the order in which they are received.
We are especially interested in attracting individuals who can work amicably with—and cooperate with—fellow Board members on a wide range of issues.
While not essential, desirable candidates will bring a practical background that includes life experience and/or formal training in areas that might typically include (but are not limited to) things like contract appraisal, contract negotiation, general business management, finance, or law. A working familiarity with construction practices and landscaping is a plus.
Younger members and those of you who are new to Silver Valley are certainly encouraged to respond, and to start a process of involvement in community affairs that will protect both their personal intvestment and the greater well being of the community at large.
This is a critically important election with the loss of several longstanding members within the last 18 months.
