On a Leash - Dogs and Cats
Details
If you have a dog or cat, it must be on a leash when outside your unit. It is also your responsibility to clean up after your pet. (Hard to believe we need to keep repeating this message.)
We are getting complaints about roaming pets, and will start assessing fines to offenders or ask the county pet control agent to assist us.
We have also received reports of an increase in wild animals, many of which may be carrying diseases, including rabies. Please do not feed wild animals, and place your garbage in a critter-proof container.

New Trees Need Water
Details
John's Tree service did a great job of providing us with large healthy trees. We were then fortunate to have rain soon after our the trees were planted. But May through August is a critical time for freshly planted trees, and they must be watered or they will die.
Newly transplanted trees need at least 1 inch of water per week for the first season, from rainfall or manual watering. During the first five years, trees should not go dry, and should be watered if there is no rain for any 2-3 week period.
The key to proper watering is to get water where it is needed most, three feet deep in the area beneath the drip line. A garden hose allowed to trickle into this area should run until the area is wet 1-3 feet deep. The tree pit area of the newly planted tree should be thoroughly saturated every one to two weeks during the growing season.
Many of you have offered to help with this, for which we are very grateful.

Bob and Diane Willoughby stained the retaining wall on Lake Terrace. Thanks, kids!
We'll be looking for volunteers to do similar work on our walls in coming weeks.
Compared to the cost of replacement, the materials to repair and stain our walls should extend their life significantly.
